Suur-Helsingin vahinkosaneeraus (SHVS)  is a Finnish privately owned company specialising in water damage restoration and bathroom renovations. We offer both technical expertise and reliable customer service for housing co-ops, building managers, apartment owners and residents.  

Our company was founded 2017 by Niko Koivumaa, who has over 20 years of experience in damage restoration and renovations. Our story began with damage repair projects but was soone expanded to include bathrooms. Today we employ around 15 professionals and a have netword of trusted, experienced subcontractors for plumbing and electrical work.

Our typical projects are leak damages but we also have done many other types of restorations from fire damages to hoarding. We take pride in respecting  both the property and its residents.

SHVS holds the Reliable Partner (Luotettava Kumppani) label verified by Vastuu Group. This confirms that our company fulfils statutory contractor obligations like tax responsibilities, pension insurance payments.  We have full insurance coverage for construction errors or work-related damages. With our excellent financial position, AA credit rating and equity ratio of over 80% we are a low risk choice.

Water damage restoration means returning a property to a safe and usable condition after water intrusion. The process typically includes a separate inspection which is followed by demolition, drying and dehumidification and reconstruction. Restoration work is typically ordered by the housing company, most often through the building manager. The process may also involve such as insurance companies and independent damage inspectors.

Inspection and assessment: A trained specialist assesses the damage and determines the necessary repair measures.

Demolition: Damaged materials are removed safely. Work areas are sealed when necessary, and air purification and negative pressure equipment are used to reduce dust and airborne contaminants.

Drying and dehumidification: Water-damaged structures are dried using professional equipment or left open to dry naturally when appropriate. Drying times vary depending on the extent of the damage and can vary.

Sanitation: Affected surfaces are cleaned. Cases which involve moisture damage, mould, sewage, fire, or other contaminants will be sanitized.

Repair and reconstruction: Our experienced craftsmen will rebuild the damaged areas to their previous condition. Additional upgrades can be discussed separately in advance. We offer a broad variety of choices for the apartment owners.

Damage repairs are often necessary to protect residents’ safety, preserve the building’s condition, and prevent further structural or financial damage. Leak detection, demolition, drying, and reconstruction may need to begin quickly, as delays can increase the extent of the damage.

We will contact apartment owners and tenants in advance whenever contact details are available. Apartment owners are encouraged to ensure that the building manager has current phone numbers and email addresses for both owners and tenants, as well as permission to share this information with us for project communication.
